Rental Property Insurance

During my time working at Eckburg Insurance Group, I was priveleged enough to get my feet wet in a number of different aspects of the business. Perhaps the most interesting area was that of working with property insurance. This experience was one of the catalysts that really pushed me to investigate further a graduate degree with coursework in real estate.

As a quoting specialist in the office, I was often workng with agents on client’s home insurnace, but I was also the go-to person in the office for our clients that have a large number of rental properties. Becuase of the relatively low housing prices in Rockford and the surround areas, there are many local investors that purchase single family homes and rent them for the purpose of monthly cash flow. Eckburg Insurance Group is easily the largest agency in town for these types of investors.

Rental property insurance, however, differs greatly from that of a typical homeowners policy. To properly protect a rental property investor, there are several things an agent needs to know about their goals and the makeup of different rental propety insurance forms. I made the document below to outline some of these important factors.
